I woke up when the Jemez Mountains were still immersed in the darkness, to catch this explosion of light over the skies of New Mexico. I was visiting the small village of Los Alamos, resting on a mesa originated by a catastrophic volcanic event a million years ago. My idea was to represent the ball of fire caused by a nuclear explosion, here where the first nuclear weapons have been developed almost 70 years before.
*A Thousand Suns (2010) is a music album by rock band Linkin Park, dealing with human fears such as nuclear warfare.
